The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Senior Auditor I, Internal Audit.
Job Summary
To perform audits of established operations, systems and processes, to provide assurance to all stakeholders on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes in the Bank.
Key Performance Results
The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Planning and performing audits and conducting peer reviews of audit work prepared within the department
- Preparing audit plans, reviewing the audit work performed by direct reports, and preparing audit reports
- Performing follow-up work, supervising audit and follow-up work, conducting progress meetings with direct reports, and communicating with audit clients to complete audits effectively and efficiently
- Performing audit work in conformance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and policies and procedures of the department and communicating results by presentation of the audit as required
- Participating in the enterprise risk assessment process and performing requested consulting audits
- Conducting performance assessments and recommending relevant training
Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking, Business Management, Economics, or Information Technology with at least three (3) years’ experience in an auditing environment.

A professional qualification in Auditing, Accounting or Banking, or a related discipline with at least three (3) years’ experience in an auditing environment.
Competencies
The successful candidate must have:
- Competency in the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
- An understanding of the application of the International Financial Reporting Standards and management principles
- Innovative thinking, analytical, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
- Broad knowledge of information systems, concepts and practices
- Proficiency with electronic working papers software, data analysis software, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Good leadership, organisational, interpersonal, and strong supervisory and time management skills
- The ability to comprehend and interpret financial data, policies, procedures, guidelines, laws and regulations
- Demonstrated high standards of professional conduct and ethics
Compensation
Salary and benefits, including Group Life Insurance, Group Medical Insurance and Pension will be in accordance with the Bank’s policy.
